Hi friends! I hope you are all enjoying your Saint Patty's day - my family usually doesn't do anything too special but you can bet that some greens will be making their way into my tummy today! :)
This past week has been absolutely crazy & I really had to remind myself to just take a breath and relax. All of your guys' tips on relieving my stress were amazing, thank you all so much! If you ever find yourself stressed out, stop by and check out the comments section on my last post- everyone had such great advice.
Anyway, I wasn't in the mood for a full weekly recap of track so I figured that I'd do a weekend countdown post that included the race with some other more fun stuff thrown in.
[past weekend countdown posts: one, two, and three]

1. Getting three more college acceptances! From some of the colleges I've heard from I've been offered scholarships & gotten into the honors programs which is super exciting. Let's just say I'm ECSTATIC that all my hard work is paying off. {I still have my fingers crossed for a few more schools that are pretty hard to get into!}
3. I'm going out to dinner tonight with a few friends to celebrate one of their birthdays. I haven't gotten to just hang out with my friends that much lately so I'm really excited!
4. Knowing that my Foodie Penpals package is in the mail and should be arriving sometime next week! I can't wait to see what goodies I got :)
3 Recent Eats
a new-to-me flavor of Luna bar - it was a little too sweet but still tasty!
fresh berries with vanilla greek yogurt, which i mixed up and topped with Nature's Path Crunchy Maple Sunrise cereal
a big Whole Foods salad with lettuce, mushrooms, carrots, cucumbers, onions, red quinoa, chickpeas, kidney beans, feta cheese, cheddar cheese, and two kinds of hummus
ginnie mae and lexy!
The weather today was a little bit better than it has been all week (it's been raining like crazy!) but it was still realllyyy cold and windy. I was not a happy camper to say the least! I raced at a distance invitational and overall it was okay. [Sorry, no race pictures!]
Since there were so many runners, everyone in my heat was really close in times- aka it was super cramped the whole race! Not to mention that when you're boxed in by other runners who can't pace themselves properly it's extremely hard to pace yourself. And during the 3rd lap a girl majorly tripped me from behind and I almost did a full face plant. So now that I think about it it really wasn't too great of a race. I finished with a time of 6:02 which is okay considering the conditions.
To be honest, I'm really getting tired of track because I'm sick of having people tell me what to do for a workout. I'm becoming more independent in all other areas of my life and I want independence in my workouts, too.
what was a highlight of your weekend?
any tips to help me survive these next two months of track season without going crazy?
Love the pinterest photos :) And your whole foods salad looks BOMB. Congrats on your race! It sounds like it was really tough but you still got an awesome time so that's great. CONGRATS ON THE COLLEGE ACCEPTANCES! That's so awesome, you must feel great! Good luck on hearing from the rest, I'm sure it'll be fine :)
ReplyDeleteMmm, your eats look delicious! I can't handle a non-chocolate Luna. If I'm going to eat all of those calories, they BETTER have chocolate! CONGRATS CONGRATS CONGRATS on the acceptances! So happy to hear!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the college acceptances!! I saw that on FB and started freaking out because I applied to one of those schools. I got the acceptance the next day though! It's kinda stressful but really exciting isn't it!
ReplyDeleteWay to go with your race! I hate getting boxed in. It's so frustrating! I can relate to not liking being told what to do. For me it's not so much being told what to do, but not having time to do additional strength workouts and what not because of school. When I'm sitting in study hall doing nothing I'm always thinking about how I could be using the time to lift weights or something!
aww your kitties are cute! I adore my cat :)
ReplyDeletecongrats on the acceptances! hopefully you get the same good news from the other schools you are waiting to hear from!
Major congrats on the acceptances!! I've gotten two so far and am still waiting for eight more and most said they don't let me know until April first! I don't know if I can wait that long - actually I know I can and it will be here before I know it, but I'm still anxious (as I said on your last post)! I need to read through all the comments on your last post ;)
ReplyDeleteBerries and yogurt is the BEST! It's such a simple combination, but I love it. Especially with granola :)
And your kitties are adorable!!
The yogurt and berries look delicious, and I do have to agree on the oatmeal luna bar. tasty, but a bit sweet. I still love luna bars though, especially chocolate ones! Congrats on the college acceptance letters. :) Hope you get the same responses from other schools you have applied to.
