Mexican Meal #2

After my workout today (30 min elliptical + 15 min weights) and a snack, I worked on my physics project - it's almost done! I'm making a powerpoint analyzing the physics in a scene in the movie Get Smart. I had a little too much fun replaying the Swordfish Scene while I was working!

Dinner tonight was my second Mexican meal of the day! In addition to my quesadilla for breakfast, I had a delicious burrito for dinner.

I wrapped pinto beans, chicken breast, chiles, cheese, salsa, and greek yogurt in a whole wheat tortilla.

all wrapped up!
I also had a salad very similar to yesterday's! It included romaine lettuce, mushrooms, carrots, red onion, dried edamame, and Newman's Own Sesame Ginger dressing.
veggies!
For dessert I had some frozen yogurt and a small piece of dark chocolate - delicious!

After dinner I relaxed and read some celebrity gossip magazines - one of my guilty pleasures!

My family also watched the final episode of Modern Family that we'd DVR'd. It was a good one! Modern Family is one of my favorite TV shows, but I'd have to say that Glee is number one! I also love watching Cupcake Wars and Chopped on the Food Network.

What are your favorite TV shows?

Weird Weather

I was bummed when I woke up this morning because I didn't get to wear my new shorts to school today - it is freezing and rainy here in CA! What is going on??

Someone else is not very happy either...
grumpy Ginnie Mae

Meet Ginnie Mae! More kitty pictures are coming soon :)
I'm with her, though - I would like my summer weather, please! I miss making smoothies since I usually make them when it is hot outside, too.

Instead of a smoothie (I have yet to make a Green Monster, can you believe it? That is on my summer To-Do list!) I made a cheddar, salsa, and egg white quesadilla this morning. I just cooked the eggs with some salsa in the microwave, then piled up the fixin's and cooked it in my panini maker!

ooey gooey
With a side of juicy strawberries:

I made my lunch after eating breakfast - I am so tired of having to pack cold lunches! I am very excited to get to incorporate a little more variety into my midday meal when I have access to a kitchen (aka don't have to go to school!)
Today I had an herb-roasted turkey and lettuce sandwich, more strawberries, carrots, and a string cheese.

all packed up!

And now I am going to workout! Since it is rainy I am planning on doing the elliptical while looking for a yummy recipe to make for my family tonight. I also am trying to increase the amount of strength training I do since I know it's good for me and am planning on at least 15 minutes of weights.

See ya soon!

Happy Memorial Day!

It was so nice to sleep in this morning!! After I woke up I went for a nice, relaxed 3.0 mile run.
The weather was perfect! It was nice and chilly, but not too cold.
cloudy day = perfect running

When I got back I had a delicious yogurt bowl for breakfast, which included:

  • Honey Bunches of Oats with Almonds - I love how cinnamon-y this cereal is! And yes, I admit to going through the box and picking out the crunchy granola clusters :)
  • Fage 0% Greek yogurt
  • Strawberries

After a quick shower I worked on a few things for school - I can't wait until summer! I definitely think that junior year has been the hardest and I know I am going to appreciate summer so much more because of it.

Before we left for church for a memorial service, I threw together a quick salad (which I actually ate in the car). We need to go grocery shopping so it was missing a little color but it still hit the spot.

In the mix:
  • Romaine lettuce
  • A few carrot pieces
  • Mushrooms
  • Asiago cheese
  • Dried edamame
  • Newman's Own Sesame Ginger dressing <- I love this stuff!
needs a pop of color

When we got back from church my tummy was rumbling! I had my favorite snack of all time: a whole wheat tortilla with peanut butter. Usually I get tired of eating the same thing every day, but this is the one exception and usually it shows up 1-2 times a day!

It has been weird taking pictures of my food today but I'm sure in a week or so it will feel a little more normal :) I am excited to look back on my posts in a year or so and see how much I've changed, too!

First Post!

Welcome to Julianna Bananna... my own healthy living blog! I have thought about starting a blog for quite awhile and decided that this summer was the time to do it (only two more weeks left until it's summertime!).

I created this blog so I could share some of my daily eats, recipes, workouts, and more! I love working in the kitchen, and cooking and baking yummy food. I also love to exercise - well, we have a love-hate relationship, of course ;)

Check out my About Me page for an introduction! I hope to have some more posts up and running soon, although the frequency of my posts will definitely increase once school is out.

 I hope you enjoy reading!
